Antibes is located on the French Riviera between Cannes and Nice and is the perfect chill getaway when you’re ready for a break from the glitz, glam, crowds and tourists of those other two beach towns. We had the super lucky once-in-a-lifetime experience of flying to Cannes in a tiny private plane, with a pilot we actually knew personally! We were visiting the town during the Cannes Lions 2016 media awards and I was instantly overwhelmed by the scene: huge crowds, loud parties, VIP lounges, dressing to impress, etc. Given I’m not at all a party girl, I wasn’t exactly feeling the vibe. So, I was relieved when, a couple days later, we moved on to Antibes, where we were able to just relax and enjoy the warm beaches, beautiful views and excellent meals. The French Riviera is lined with restaurants that sit directly on the beach, so you never have to leave. Try Jazz Plage (Boulevard Charles Guillaumont, 06160 Antibes) for enjoying cool refreshing salads and an ice cold bottle of rosé while people watching from a lounge chair on the sand, where you can sunbathe and snack at the same time, or an umbrella shaded table on the patio. Head over toward the Cap d'Antibes (06160 Antibes) peninsula—which is all mansions and pine trees—for breathtaking views. The Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc (Boulevard JF Kennedy, 06600 Antibes, France) is where you’ll find celebrities, royalty and the otherwise extremely wealthy but you don’t need to sacrifice your firstborn in exchange for a room. Reserve at one of the hotel restaurants or bars to soak in the swanky vibe. At Restaurant de Plage le Cap (10 Boulevard Maréchal Juin, 06160 Antibes) an open-air beachside deck lets you enjoy a romantic dinner with a view of the stars and the sound of the ocean. The menu was eclectic and fun: one of my favorite parts was the Bò Bún Salad with little spring rolls. We’d heard it was hard getting into Michelin Selection Michaelangelo Mamo (2 Rue des Cordiers, 06600 Antibes) so we went for a 10pm reservation on a Sunday night and it was well worth it. Phenomenal Italian food was paired with impeccable service but my husband’s favorite part was the bunch of insanely ripe and rich red tomatoes just sitting on the table begging for a douse of olive oil and salt before being devoured between dishes.
