"Food is our common ground, a universal experience." - james beard

I'm a registered dietitian, fitness instructor, breast cancer advocate, world traveler and native New Yorker who just recently moved to London. I'm also a very very lucky lady.
After leaving the marketing industry to pursue my passion for nutrition, I was able to merge the two and I now have a fulfilling career in nutrition marketing and health communications. My other passion is fitness. Nearly five years ago I received a breast cancer diagnosis. That same day, my husband and I drove from Manhattan to Boston for my Zumba instructor training. My first workout after recovering from my surgery was a Zumba class. I think I was trying to show myself that I wouldn't stop being myself or doing the things I love. Dance, yoga, pilates, hiking, biking, kayaking– What all of these fitness activities have in common is how they make me feel: healthy, alive and empowered.

I was fortunate to have received an early diagnosis of breast cancer and to have a network of inspiring and generous women at Young Survival Coalition (YSC), a national organization that supports, empowers and educates young women diagnosed with breast cancer. I eventually became a New York State Leader for YSC, which I served for over two years. Then, in October 2010, I was one of the first women to benefit from Personal Ink (P.ink), an organization that connects breast cancer survivors with tattoo artists who can provide a unique form of healing: mastectomy scar tattoos. In 2014, I had the privilege of leading the New York City arm of P.ink Day, an annual event in which survivors and tattoo artists come together for a national day of healing. Today, I remain involved with P.ink and hope to lead one of the first international P.ink Days in the near future.
For the moment, I'm still getting settled here in London. I just recently moved here from Brooklyn, New York, where I had lived my entire life. In the meanwhile, I realize I have a wonderful opportunity on my hands: to discover new food cultures and to share them with you! As a dietitian, one of the best things about all the travel I get to do, from my new base in Europe, is learning about food & nutrition from all around the world. I'll be documenting all of it on my food tourism blog, EAT GLOBALLY, and I hope you'll follow along!
Cheers!
